Concrete pH Changes Across Regions

I observed a pattern where concrete slabs seem to show higher pH levels as I move from northern to southern regions. This could be influenced by variations in aggregate materials or water demands in drier climates, I guess. Anyone else observed this or found research to back it up?
 
You're right, it can be due to differences in aggregate materials, such as more alkaline limestone in southern areas, and variations in water quality used for mixing. Also, drier climmates can cause a faster curing which affects the ph levels.

That lines up with what I suspected. Have you encountered any data sets or field reports comparing regional mix designs? I'd like to see how consistent the pH shift is when controlling for variables like water:cement ratio and cure time.

Yes that makes sense. Those DOT and highway folks probably have a mountain of data from different projects over the years. I'll try digging around their websites and see if I can unearth any of those reports you mentioned. Would be real helpful to see some hard numbers on this pH shift.
