Concrete project for our shop class

A friend and I are planning a high school shop class project to teach students about concrete, including how slabs and foundation walls come together. We've done some basic concrete work but never handled rebar or ties. We're probably missing key steps, so any advice would really help.

That sounds like an awesome project! For rebar, make sure it's raised off the ground using chairs or blocks and tie intersections with wire to keep everything in place during the pour. maybe start with a small slab with visible rebar layout.
