cement or asphalt driveway which one to choose

just moved into a new place and the driveway is basically a dirt pit waiting to swallow my car. it's around 45 by 22 feet and i'm stuck choosing between a cement or asphalt driveway. cement looks nice and fancy but i've heard it cracks if you look at it wrong. asphalt is cheaper but apparently melts in the summer like ice cream on a sidewalk.
i just need something that won't turn into a disaster in a few years. what's the real winner here?

If you're in an area with harsh winters, asphalt might be the better call since it's easier to repair but if longevity and a more polished look matter more, go with concrete, but be ready for any possible cracks and sealing

Agree with this one OP @outlawz, asphalt is better for the cold but if it's a hot place do concrete. Like you're not gonna go wrong with concrete if you want someting that will last long. If you're tight on budget asphalt is the key.

a quick addition is the price. asphalt seems cheaper upfront but it needs sealcoating every few years, while concrete doesn't. With that said, the temps will still play a massive role so it's up to you do decide

True this. If the budget matters most tho and you're fine with maintaining, then asphalt is the key Maybe add a gravel base for either and just even it out with chip seal?

Congrats on the new place! If you're tight on budget, I'd recommend going with asphalt. It's easier to fix, though you'll need to seal it now and then. Concrete is more expensive and definitely looks nice, plus it lasts longer, but it does have a tendency to crack. It really depends on what's more important to you
